How do professional drivers start a race? What do they do to propel themselves?
Do they give gas, brake then give gas? Hold the gas pedal at maximum level?
How do they start so fast? Like drag racers or top gear shows
Pro drag racers use automatics
The methods are all similar, but will vary a little, depending on the class
The drivers figure out, what is the best "launch speed/RPMs".
They have special transmissions, that allow them to put their foot on the gas, and bring it up to the optimum revs. (It's called the stall /torque converter)

They hold their left foot on the brake, to keep the car from launching too soon,
Your average street car, will only rev up to about 800 to 1200 rpm.
the transmission just won't allow anymore, because you don't need that for the street.
While Dragsters will rev up to 4K-6K RPM or more, depending on the class you are racing in, to allow maximum power, for the launch.
Combine the high power of the engine, the high RPM for the launch,
huge drag slicks, to get the power to the ground, and you get massive launches/starts.
"circle burners" and road course cars use different methods to start.
Some start from a dead stop, and some use a "rolling start".
But nothing accelerates from a dead stop like a pro dragster.
